Dear Identity Theory Readers,
A quick update as we lean into fall…
“I have cherished An Angel is a Kind of Ghost as an otherworldly call to remain alive to the world, to the preciousness of what remains.”
Justin Aoba reviewed An Angel is a Kind of Ghost by Amy Jannotti on the site this week.
We close out summer with the 88th weekly cartoon from Alan Michael Parker, who is judging the 2024 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction.
We joined the new social media site Bluesky. Look us up there. I plan to use it for offbeat posts and corgi pics as well as links to all our stories and other work by contributors and staff and friends and so on. It may be a scarecrow of an app that rots away by winter, but we’ll take the free gamble.
I took a wait-and-see approach as Twitter continued to crumble. Going forward, I plan to spend more time enjoying/expanding this Substack as well as Instagram. I’ll keep posting to ex-Twitter until it dies and/or costs money, but…not like before. Maybe we’ll produce more TikTok poetry videos.
We’ll announce our Best of the Net nominations next week.
I removed ads from the mag this month. I’m hoping to rework the website this fall to get it up to date with the best new features, and I’m not sure if the ads will come back. “Big data” has become oppressive. You can donate if you’d like to support us.
Thanks for reading!
Fall into not saying “fall into,”
