Welcome to Micro Monday week six! This week features saturated prose from Jenny Wong and Nora Nadjarian. These are true shining examples of how effective micro can be.

The common thread between these micros is “food as metaphor.” Food writing is surprisingly challenging to get right. It’s a topic that finds itself with a deep emotional well to draw from, but falling into that well can result in a saccharine and ironically shallow piece.
