Double Micro Monday: Andrew Bertaina and Dan Melling
The two pieces this week, from Dan and Andrew, showcase a talent I deeply envy—the ability to write comedy that makes me laugh without once rolling my eyes.
It’s Micro Monday here at Identity Theory, and this week we are changing things up a bit! Until now, we’ve featured work from just one writer each Monday. Starting today, we’ll feature work from two! This week we’ve got fiction from Dan Melling and Andrew Bertaina.
As an editor, I think it’s particularly fun to select work based on a themed call, or to curate an issue with pieces that naturally seem to fall into place based on how they communicate with one another. By featuring two writers each Monday, I’m trying to capture a little bit of that feeling. I hope you find that it adds another dimension to these fantastic micros.
The two pieces this week, from Dan and Andrew, showcase a talent I deeply envy—the ability to write comedy that makes me laugh without once rolling my eyes. These pieces seem almost made to go together, as if they could have been one collaborative piece between these two writers. Read Dan’s first, then Andrew’s. You’ll see what I mean.
Don’t forget to laugh, folks.
